Boston Strangler - "Fire"

Boston Strangler are what I think of when I hear the term "oye band." They're exactly what you'd think a raw hardcore band from Boston would sound like. A real barebones, meat and potatoes approach to traditional punk. The production is key, being modern and crisp, making "Fire" truly a fun listen. The kick drum is audible in all its glory while the guitars saw in the background. A little bit Cold World and a little bit Holy Tongues, Deathwish has really nurtured the uprising of all the various extremes of hardcore. There are so many waves in the spectrum, that it's nice to hear albums like "Fire" taking a very traditional sound and mixing it with a current mixing approach. Boston Strangler makes for an awesome kitchen party.
