Anthony Green has paraded around his colorful music scheme for so many years and on Descensus it's obvious that's there's been so much detail just smothered into each track. Lush landscapes swoon in the background as the rhythm section pummels away some of the strongest chord progressions I've heard since Isis's Wavering Radiant. When too much alternative aggression has you beat, Circa Survive are always good for the solid ballad and occasional melancholy anthem. It's been tough to beat Blue Sky Noise in my opinion, but this one seems convincing.
