The most noticeable aspect of Napoleon's latest is just how high the guitars are tuned. Most metalcore these days is so punishingly low, that coming right from the new Architects to this one totally caught me by surprise and took a few minutes of getting adjusted to. It's been a hot minute since What We See but it's clear the group has been hard at work to stay competitive.
Amidst Hundredth and Counterparts it's certainly not easy. Tracks like "Maps" and "Afterlife" will obviously help, but it's going to take some serious passionate live shows if these guys are going to take this long between releases and think they stand a chance in the market.
