THE RECENTLY ADDED

Boston Strangler "Outcast"

With Soft Grip, Give, Turnstile, Backtrack and an infinite array of others coming in hard with their releases concerning both production and quality, it's strange that Boston Strangler would opt in for such dated production on their latest EP. Maybe it's because it's an demo instead of an actual release, but maybe not. What's odd is that the songs are actually superb. For a brash hardcore record, the animosity and fury contained is solid alongside the effective songwriting. It is disappointing to listen to a new record from 2017, that sounds like I'm listening to the band through the other room. That's going to make repeat listens extremely difficult unless this is just a blueprint for a new release just around the corner.
