Not wasting any time pumping out their latest installment, Citizen manage to scoop a grain of their debut and mix it into their third official LP. While Youth will always remain the band’s pinnacle, it’s great to hear the group smooth out the progressive elements of their last release and get back to what’s made them such a standout alternative outfit. Soft, melodic hardcore lingers throughout, with subtle verses and catchy choruses that don’t saturate themselves with repetition. Some fans are calling this an instant AOTY, but there’s just not enough meat on the bone during the first few tracks to make it such a highlight.
