THE RECENTLY ADDED

Casey “Where I Go When I’m Sleeping”

The band blends what Citizen did on their debut and mash it with Poison The Well’s Tear From The Red. The emo tendencies are heavy on this one, and even though the vocals tear it up every two songs, there’s too much filler between tracks, and guitar ambiance in just about every piece that make the record a tiny bit of a chore to get through. Highly comparable to Heal, Casey just infuses more spoken word and shoegaze droning to declassify them as a proper hardcore band. But through it all, it’s a solid album with tons of highlights (“Phosphenes,” “The Funeral) that make this a necessary, standout record in 2018.
