On their latest record, the minions of mystical metal sorcery go to great lengths to capture the glory of fantasy oriented aggro prog. There’s hints of Symphony X, there are elements of Kataklysm, and there are times where it feels like The Mummy and Xerath wrote a record for their new born baby. “The Golden Elk” highlights the band’s range, amongst an assortment of tracks that at times push the envelope of bravery a bit too boldly. Not everyone needs to rise to the spotlight at all times.
