THE RECENTLY ADDED

Ancestors “Suspended In Reflection”

The band delivers a lush, atmospheric record, highly reminiscent of early Pelican or late Isis and mellow their landscape through thick chord progressions and great hymns and melodies. There’s a classic rock sound that’s apparent, as if this is a modern day Led Zeppelin or Pink Floyd. There’s a big Soundgarden influence here, with “Lying In The Grass” lifting it’s main lick from “The Day I Tried To Live,” and giving it a new life. No fault here, the tune works like a charm, and the band slowly move their way along  the seven minute epic. While some of the tracks could use a little clipping, there’s so much meat on the bone here to make this one of the year’s best road trip records.
