Psycroptic “As The Kingdom Drowns”

The band releases a straightforward death metal record, that’s as pure as a Deicide album from the 90’s. The album tears the doors down with sick riffs and blast beats that stand above any metalcore or hardcore fusion act, reminding us what got us into the death metal space before it became littered with countless subgenres and eight and nine string guitars. There’s good symphonic elements that build the band’s suspense throughout the listen, but this is as clear cut to the chase as a metal record can get. Let this be the blueprint for those trying to emulate, then layer panache on this guided framework.
