THE RECENTLY ADDED

Full of Hell “Weeping Choir”

Relapse’s noisiest collective unit delivers their most challenging record yet. While the hardcore/death metal hybrid splits the band evenly, it’s their electronic noise element that’s still floating like an ink blot all over white sheets. I still don’t understand why no one edits this noise appropriately. At first listen for exposure it’s crucial to get through, but there’s no repeat listens that will justify the atrocity that is that garbage output. Live and on record, I’m still way too confused about why that variable is such a big part of the group’s identity. Why it was ever necessary in what is otherwise a terrific death metal band is truly anyone’s guess
