I’m a bit selective of the deathcore spread these days given the rampant explosion of bands in this space since its rise to acclaim in the early 2000’s, and what we saw in January of this year. The vocals and riffs are B- here, not really doing anything to reinvent or challenge the perception of the genre. However, Crown’s ability to defy the odds with insane drums and off the wall rhythms continues to baffle me with each release. Nice to see the band get past their infancy. It’ll be interesting to see how they continue to challenge themselves as time goes by, there’s just a ton of work to be done to stay relevant in a very congested space.
