THE RECENTLY ADDED

Poppy “Stagger”

After the critically acclaimed “I Disagree” Poppy throws it all in the toilet with an effort made to feel as punk as possible. With four tracks praising identity and independence layered into straightforward late 70’s punk/rock with modern production, it just doesn’t work. With three tracks that sound like a new pop starlet’s demo hoping to make it onto the Warped Tour roster, and a closing number that’s painful to get through, this EP just feels so extra. Poppy seemed like the kind of star that would reinvent themselves on each release, but the music here is amateur at best, and probably developed for a younger audience who just don’t know any better or where to turn for new and exciting music.
