Regulate “Regulate”

I’ve enjoyed every record this band has delivered, but every time I see this band live I can’t wait for it to be over, and most of that is outlined in this record that’s just absolutely all over the place. So here’s the gap! This tightly produced record sounds so contrived it’s almost overkill. The amount of RHCP-esque jamming that goes on here is just eye-rollingly painful. The glossy layer covering each track builds a band that often knows how to write great melodies but fails to deliver anything more than another generic punk set. And the failed Coheed and Cambria influenced “Hair”? A head turning, lingering track that didn’t impress, even though it’s a bold move that tries to elevate the band from its peers.
