The follow up to 2016’s “Solipsist” is finally here, with mixed reviews. But the only one that really matters is this one right here, as anything distracting from the record’s glory may as well be dismissed. What Derek “Demon Carcass” Rydquist does to a record is hard to quantify, but it’s obvious this is an extension of “Planetary Duality,” a record that remains a holy grail in the technical brutal death metal sphere almost twenty years since its release. With robosynths and eclectic prog melodies, the subtleties of the album are not to be overlooked in what lace a collection of tracks that highlight what’s possible within a niche that’s seemingly managed to practically exhaust every possibility.
