Harms Way “Common Suffering”

Stylistically perfect, Chicago’s kings of the underground deliver their finest release yet. While “Posthuman” honed in on the band’s tone, subtle nuances, and superb, organic production, “Common Suffering” elevates everything Harms Way has done riffwise since their inception and catapults their results. The wondrously lush “Devour” oozes over into the hauntingly atmospheric “Undertow,” and the band cements their stance in the stunning closer “Wanderer,” a song that features one of the gnarliest closing bars in the business. What’s captured here is a band that took their time, brought themselves forward in refined form, and meticulously chiseled away at one of hardcore’s finest moments. This one is not to be missed.
