Arguably one of the hardest working live bands in the aggressive underground, Kublai Khan return with their sixth collection of pummeling anthems and seemingly perfect their simple, groovy formula. The four piece band has literally stayed consistently on the road for well over a decade and know exactly what gets crowds moving and listen up. While “Nomad” and “Absolute” helped carve Kublai Khan’s delivery into a fine tuned three piece drum-set, and even less guitar note playing machine, there’s something so defining in the band’s execution on the simple. The limited flare makes every hi-hat hit so crisp and every chuggy breakdown smooth as room temperature butter. That could very well be a consequence of Randy Leboeuf’s genius on the boards, but without the proper work in preproduction, none of this would be possible. Nice to hear Dave Peters of Throwdown make a sweet little cameo also.
