If my grievance with 2022’s “Seething Malevolence” was the rough around the edges production quality, well Vomit Forth’s newest album definitely took note of that complaint and scaled up their latest release on all fronts. It’s a total 2006 deathcore album. Which is great. But how did we go completely full circle with this genre? Shouldn’t Carnifex be headlining Louder Than Life by now? Vomit Forth deserves all the acclaim like any other Lorna Shore hopeful (a band that’s somehow done more for the niche genre than Chelsea Grin and Suicide Silence did with their overhauled rosters). But I suppose all those bands had to crawl so that some other acts could walk, or fly really, it’s just such a wildcard grab bag as to why some of these outfits never graduate from the club level and others sell out entire tours.
