It’s been a few duds since 2012’s self-titled, and to be honest it hasn’t been an impressive effort from the band since “A New Era of Corruption,” but alas! The group is firing on all cylinders delivering what they do best since their inception and early glory days. I suppose it was expected that the band would try a wide vocal variety and cast a wider net after so many years in the game, but those efforts felt PG-13 or even TV-14 at times when in fact these deathcore greats are true R rated performers. Deathcore is coming back in a big way, with various dynamics splashing about in just about every heavy band, but Whitechapel have been around for almost two decades and are the practical godfathers of the genre, and it’s great to have them take the wheel and gain control of a sound they helped pioneer.
