So they've got endless gems in their catalogue, but "Soundsystem" was the record that cemented this band as the indisputable masters of originality. Seriously, who sounds like 311? (or Primus for that matter). The grooves, the melodies, and "Large in the Margin" absolutely slay, and this is one worthy ride from start to finish. Although "Grassroots" and "Music" shared some hopeful intents, this 99 release kills it and has some of the best sing alongs in the band's discography. Still stands the test of time and is one of the most contagious albums of the late 90's even though it still sounds like it originated in the future.
