Portrayer have hit the nail on the coffin with Desolate. What great work is captured here with at least 3 dozen voices layering the vocals. The polyrhythms on "Pitch Black" are enough to send anyone back to their mother with a two page report of what they just witnessed. Eerie chords layer the majority of each song creating a vast depth into darkness. The album is just so put together that it's truly an exceptional release. Their relentless marketing and promotion should propel them to strong tours which should make for a promising tenure. Let's just hope they do a little more than promote themselves on bandcamp.
