There's so much of this stuff going on out there that it's crucial to be able to spend time with the real quality projects. Avarice is a tight bunch of songs. Akin to the "Nu-Metalcore" genre I've seen start to litter blogs, it's important to point out that with no producer, these bands are just replicating a sound they hear and giving it their own spin. The drums pummel, the rhythm slays and there are some solid one liners thrown in for good measure. The screechy highs are a bit of a buzzkill and don't add much depth to the vocals when they're presented. Not sure if they're going for "black metal" but it's definitely not that. A good kick in the foot to wake up the monotony.
