THE RECENTLY ADDED

Basement - Gramercy Theatre

What a night! Basement are truly special. Aside from the fact that they've only been around for a few years and already have a following that trumps NFG at their peak back in the early 00's, their songwriting and melodic approach keeps them on the fence and grants them the ability to market the emo and hardcore communities combined. It's absolutely insane that they've only been a band for six years, are from the U.K. and have already hosted two headline tours in the U.S. (the prior one was alongside Superheaven, which was an absolute sesh of a night.) Their sophomore outing Colourmeinkindness was practically blared in its entirety with a few classics from the debut. My mind melts whenever I hear "Jet" off their mini EP that dropped in 2014, and their light show and prosecution made their set truly memorable. Adventurer was also interesting, as it contains three members from Code Orange I had no idea were affiliated with another group, and the fact that they almost perfect music in the indie form as well as their ruthless hardcore profession is absolutely worth anyone's attention. In case you slept on this one, DO NOT miss their run with The Story So Far where I'm pretty sure Basement are going to give the headliners a run for their money.
