Troubled Coast "Awake And Empty"

While not exactly recent, Troubled Coast recently came up on the radar of a merch clearance sale online. The band exposes a passionate presentation of hardcore in the vein of La Dispute with an angrier pinch of metalcore ala Norma Jean. The album instantly distances itself from scene stalwarts with its first chorus in the powerful "Brother."

     It's there that it's also obvious that the lyrics are a huge part of what's going on here. The story telling and emotions explored are not your average run of the mill copy. There's some serious meat and potato going on in these verses and if the kids have an attention span that goes past the next snap, perhaps there's something worth unearthing in this gem of a beast that was criminally overlooked back in 2012.
