While always original, Aphex Twin are also always a wild card. The success of the DJ has been contributed to his formidable sound; the bubbly, crackly, pop fueled electronic tweak that compromises the majority of James' antics that are instantly recognizable as his signature sound.
Following the release of Syro, it's surprising that we have any new Twin material at all. While all the tracks are some variation of the title track, the blend of each mix is a true delight which makes the EP truly worth your time. There's no white noise on these cuts and each one is its own track with its own identity.
For a change from the tension of modern music, James knows how to draw a thin line to separate himself from the commotions of the industry.
