Manson’s resurgence won’t convert those who’ve managed to steer clear all these years, but it’s no secret that the setlist needs some new blood with the artist’s latest swarm of appearances on every radio rock festival of the past two years. Whether this is a cash grab to feed the merch tables something to stock during those giant engagements, or whether this is an actual attempt at artistic expression is only answered deep in Manson’s heart. What is worth noting though is that it’s twenty years since Antichrist Superstar and this guy is still going at it. The songs aren’t as contagious and the hooks not so evil and prominent, but it’s still very much Manson, and his sound hasn’t been stifled that much in it’s wide variety since those records dominated back in the late nineties.
