Axis perform the type of metal we once thought Dillinger performed, but with more depth smashing into their pre Miss Machine days. Not clear? Think about those alarm clock riffs in early Norma Jean then try and blend them with the most aggressive Cult Leader and Code Orange stuff and we may have it pinpointed somewhere close. A little hint of All Pig’s Must Die or Converge’s early pre Jane Doe material sounds appropriate. Think Martyr A.D.’s best moments with the ambiance and atmosphere of Deftones. Still too much? Maybe it’s enough for you to check out one of the year’s best records and let it speak for itself. Name dropping half a dozen bands will promote what’s popular, but nothing will ever beat experiencing this record firsthand. This is a must listen.
