Edinburgh’s finest deliver a sensational follow up to their 2013 chaotic bliss EP Outlier and smash all expectations. The band’s aggressive math metal slam sound is tightened and delivers a unique blast of energy highly comparable to early The Dillinger Escape Plan and Comity. This is a highly complex act that manipulates their sound endlessly from track to track and know how to refresh the audio experience after each intense burst of energy is delivered after every song. While the vocals stay resilient and brutal throughout, the digital elements that are sprinkled on the voice bring to mind Radiation 4 and their psychotic brand of schizophrenic ramblings. While not as animated or goofy, Sectioned are equally creative, which alongside the band’s intense blast beat oriented hardcore, makes for one of the most compelling releases of the year.
