It’s surprising that new acts continue to deliver the same uninspired efforts that aim to shape the metalcore space. While the term referring to an aggressive genre that blends metal tendencies with the passion and groove of hardcore has had many meanings in the last twenty years, and been countless bands who play off the style introducing their efforts for flare and have made a dent in the community. However, this is not one of those bands. Convictions are an August Burns Red decoy with youthful panache that push back the progress of the scene with another stale effort. Very disappointing to see this even get highlighted when acts like Tourniquet, Frontierer, and Obliterate exist on the same orbit.
