Fresh off the back of Humanz, Damon Albarn packs it up again to deliver a tight-knight batch of Gorillaz tracks that hit home instantly. The short form works best at this stage in the game, and after the exhausting list of guest appearances on the previous LP, The Now Now keeps things moving with succinct track runtimes, and straight to the point song structures. There’s a fresh sensation infused into the band’s set, loaded with colorful melodies and melancholy hymns. Hopefully these tracks will freshen up the live show for the act, with straightforward ambient and rock tracks that don’t need a dozen-piece band to execute.
