The perfect record doesn’t exi… WOW. Just WOW. Almost ten years of dumping records on here, and not one has warranted a similar reaction. The only time I can remember wanting a record to finish so quickly so I can hurry back and re-listen and pinpoint all the parts that left me with my jaw dangling on the floor was in 2003 when I heard BTBAM’s “The Silent Circus” for the first time. Perhaps a little too much cello rumbling on the second half of this record, but between the execution of the crust, grind noise-metal infused with this Midsommar-esque soundtrack, Portrayal of Guilt have delivered a metal record that not many will beat this year, if ever. Matt King is arguably a genius.
