THE RECENTLY ADDED

Nails “Every Bridge Burning”

This is exactly what I expected from Todd Jones (and Carlos Cruz apparently), on the band’s fourth full length and new music in nearly five years. Insane drums, over the top snarling vocal delivery, thunderstorm riffs and the occasional noodling lead. It’s obvious Jones has some outstanding beef in his circle, with lyrical content addressing his sentiments in each of the albums ten tracks (“All I want is to be left alone / Pay my bills and die in my home” from "No More Rivers To Cross" is honestly my personal favorite). Nails really have nothing left to prove, and while this is absolutely a perfect record in every way, it may take a little more from a release in 2024 to earn the championship belt from year end lists for AOTY that may have expected something more from a band that has taken powerviolence, grind, and hardcore to new levels throughout their entire career. And to that I say, go listen to the earlier records. It’s all there.
