An epic metal release that sandwiches the heaviest parts of Opeth alongside The Faceless’ finer moments with a touch of personal flare that pulls from deathcore’s early years bringing to mind bands like Decrepit Birth and Beyond Creation. Some of the melodies, especially the one on the album opener, feel a bit trite and repetitive, but it’s obvious Rivers of Nihil are really reaching for glory here, and with as many lineup shifts as they’ve experienced, its great they’ve come out on the other side of it with such a solid record.
